GameSnake and Venture Outdoors
The tremendous diversity and richness of our recreational opportunities are obvious to those who hike, bike, climb and paddle in this region. Unfortunately, this awareness does not extend to those without a personal network of contacts.
Without an effective infrastructure to inform and engage novices and new residents, the prevailing lack of awareness will continue to hinder participation, especially by young, active adults. In partnership with existing outdoor organizations, Venture Outdoors seeks to provide that infrastructure.
GameSnake supports Venture Outdoors in building this infrastructure and seeks to take it to the next level by facilitating participation in the outdoors for those novices and new residents who do not have a personal network of contacts. GameSnake boasts a strong number of members who are interested in biking, hiking, climbing, and paddling throughout the area. By creating a free profile on GameSnake, novices and new residents will instantly be connected with a seasoned group of athletes and be able to find rides, hikes, climbs, and paddling events.
What Is GameSnake?
GameSnake is a free online service that matches players with pickup games and
teams in over 100 sports. GameSnake uses a player's age, gender, location and
sports preferences to match them with games and teams happening on the courts,
fields and facilities in their area. GameSnake also offers team managers a suite
of tools they can use to start and manage their team roster, team games and schedules.
GameSnake also has features to assist athletes with disabilities.
How GameSnake Works
- First, you join GameSnake (It's Free!)
- You tell GameSnake a little about
yourself, about the sports you want to play and where you want to play
them.
- Games are started and listed in GameSnake by you or other players.
- GameSnake
searches for available games in your area, determines which games match
your interests and then lets you know about them. You can decide to join
the games that match your interests. Each game listing has details about
the game and where it is to be played, you just sign up and show up.
- If you
have started a game, it helps recruit other players and lets you know how
many players are signed-up.
- Learn about the people that you play with: their
statistics, rankings, as well as any positive or negative feedback from
other members who have played with them.
